A former Durham University professor has alleged that a research project was used by America to gather intelligence on an enemy country.
Dr Reza Molavi told ITV News Tyne Tees the full story of how the university was granted hundreds of thousands of dollars to bring Iranians to the North East and introduce them to Americans.
The university said it was only a research project, but Dr Molavi said he worried it went ‘beyond’ academia.
